Heartfelt Farewells to Ofer Dahan: Your Bar-Ilan Legacy Lives On

January 5, 2025

As we say farewell to our valued colleague and friend, Ofer Dahan, we reflect on the significant impact he has had on the Bar-Ilan University community. Ofer’s dedication, vision, and leadership have inspired us all, fostering an environment of growth and collaboration.

In this tribute, his close colleagues—Prof. Moshe Lewenstein, Prof. Rivka Tuval Mashiach, and Prof. Rachel Dekel—share their heartfelt memories and insights. Each of them has had the privilege of working alongside Ofer, witnessing his unwavering commitment to excellence and his ability to uplift those around him.

Prof. Moshe Lewenstein: Insights on a Significant Partnership in Launching the International School

As the former Deputy President of Bar-Ilan University, I was pleased to bring Ofer Dahan on board to help launch the university’s International School. From the very beginning, I recognized Ofer’s unique talents and unwavering commitment to creating an inclusive and dynamic educational environment for international students.

Working alongside him over the past several years has been a pleasure. Ofer is someone I deeply admire and respect, not only for his incredible energy but for his remarkable ability to take on challenging projects with enthusiasm and determination. I am especially grateful for his willingness to tackle tasks many others would shy away from. Ofer sees difficult projects not as obstacles but as opportunities—challenges to overcome with creativity, resourcefulness, and his extensive network of connections.

One of Ofer’s greatest talents is his ability to make things happen. He approaches every initiative with a positive and energetic attitude, using every tool at his disposal to get things moving forward. Many of the successes of the International School can be credited to his unique ability to push boundaries and think outside the box. His “can-do” spirit and drive were instrumental in shaping the International School into what it is today, and I am deeply grateful for all the work he has done.

Ofer is a true doer, someone who doesn’t just dream but acts—and acts boldly. His optimistic outlook and proactive approach to life have left a lasting impact on the culture of the International School. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ofer brings with him an infectious positivity and an energetic way of looking at life that inspires everyone around him.

As Ofer moves on to the next chapter of his life, I wish him nothing but joy and fulfillment. Knowing Ofer, I am confident that this next chapter will be just as full of adventure, creativity, and success as the last. His contributions to Bar-Ilan University and the International School will not be forgotten, and I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to work alongside him.

Prof. Rivka Tuval Mashiach: Reflections on Working with Ofer Dahan

It has been an inspiring experience to work with Ofer, even if only for one year. Ofer is a force of nature—full of energy, always initiating new ideas, programs, and connections. It’s truly amazing to see him in action. While most of us are still brainstorming or “cooking” an idea, Ofer is already making the required phone calls to bring it to life. His ability to take an idea and immediately move it forward is inspiring.

Ofer has a young and adventurous spirit, always dreaming of new trips, exploring unseen landscapes, and conquering challenges in his professional life and personal adventures. He brings that same passion and drive to the office, which was contagious to everyone around him. Ofer is a true people’s person. Seeing how he maintains relationships with so many individuals he has worked with over the years was impressive. He genuinely cares about the people he connects with, and he has built an extensive network that spans the globe.

As Ofer embarks on this next chapter of his life, I wish him much joy and success. Knowing Ofer, I am confident it will be a chapter full of adventure, fulfillment, and meaningful contributions to the world.

Thank you, Ofer, for everything you have done for the International School. You leave behind a remarkable legacy, and we will always remember the energy, creativity, and humanity you brought to everything you did.

Warm regards, Rivka

Prof. Rachel Dekel: Celebrating Five Years of Collaboration at the International School

I had the incredible opportunity to work closely with Ofer Dahan for five transformative years as the founding Academic Head of the International School. From the outset, Ofer’s vision and passion for international education were evident, making him an invaluable partner in our mission to create a welcoming and enriching environment for students from around the globe.

Ofer possesses a unique blend of creativity and determination that has consistently inspired those around him. His ability to envision innovative solutions and approach challenges with a positive mindset has played a crucial role in the growth and development of the International School.

What stands out most about Ofer is his unwavering dedication. He has a remarkable knack for bringing people together and fostering collaboration, which has been instrumental in our efforts to build a diverse and vibrant academic community.

As Ofer embarks on his next adventure, I wish him every success and fulfillment. I am confident that he will bring the same energy and passion to his future endeavors as he did here at Bar-Ilan University. It was an honor to work alongside him, and I look forward to seeing all the great things he will achieve in the years ahead.
