COVID-19

Latest update: August 9th, 2022

Bar-Ilan University is now operating according to Green Pass regulations

Following a resurgence in COVID-19 infections in Israel and in line with government decisions, entrance to the BIU campus will now follow the Green Pass regulations.

Entrance to campus is permitted only upon presentation of proof of vaccination, proof of recovery from COVID-19, or a negative coronavirus screening test (PCR) taken no more than 72 hours prior to entering campus. In the case of an antigen screening test, it needs to be taken no more than 24 hours prior to entering campus.

Additionally, students, faculty members, and employees who were exposed to a verified COVID-19 patient must follow the Ministry of Health’s guidelines and should not come to campus until after receiving a negative test result.

Vaccinated students, faculty members, and employees who have someone at home who is in isolation will be able to enter campus after presenting a negative COVID-19 test result for the isolated person.

Unvaccinated students, faculty members, and employees who have an isolated person in their home will be able to enter campus after presenting negative COVID-19 test results for both the isolated person and themselves.

New Restrictions Regarding the Entry of Foreigners into Israel

Please note that according the most updated regulations (as for August 5, 2021), only those who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 or have recovered from the virus and have a recovery certificate,  are permitted to enter.

After arriving, every student will have to go into quarantine, but will be able to shorten the duration by doing a serological test. After a negative test, only the student may call the Ministry of Health to be dismissed from quarantine via *5400.

Students (A2, and their families, A4) who were in Israel in 2020, but went abroad for a short period of up to 10 days, will be allowed to enter Israel. If you are one of these students, please contact Amit Amsalem from the International School at

[email protected] and she will provide information on what to do when you arrive.

Experts (B1): The entry of experts will be approved; however, the number of entrants will be reduced to the minimum number necessary on the recommendation of the relevant government ministry – with the approval of the Ministry of Health and the Foreign Workers Administration.

Entry will be permitted only if the student is arriving from a green country (entry from a red country/highest risk country will be forbidden), to keep yourself up-to-date with the colors of each country you may use this link, and for the list of the red countries according to Israel you may click here.

Israelis Please Note: You should be aware that students or family members who have Israeli passports will also be required to self-isolate for 2 weeks. Or you may take a serology test if you are vaccinated and finish quarantine early.
